Winning All Round

Aaron Bain Racing was delighted to partner with talented jockey Taylor Johnstone for her milestone 200th race winning ride at Morphettville on Saturday, October 10.

Johnstone, 23, was aboard Winning All Round for trainers Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor in the Hahn Handicap (1522m) at Morphettville and she could not have given it a better run.

Well backed from $13 into $6, Winning All Round settled one wide behind the leaders early before coming with a strong run to score a length win from Damelli ($9.50) with Big Rita Jane ($8), three-quarters of a length away third.

ABR has identified Johnstone’s talent in the saddle and the win was her 13th for the stable, with 26 placings.

Trainer Ned Taylor said Winning All Round had deserved the victory.

“He is a very honest horse,” Taylor said.

“He tends to take a bit of work on the corner as he hits a flat spot.

“He has been building this prep, and it was nice to see him put if all together today.

“As a big, long horse, on the corner, he struggles to pick up ground, but when he came into the straight he picked up ground, hit top gear and went away with it.”

Taylor said Winning All Round bounced between the training facilities at Angaston Park and Murray Bridge to have him right on race day.

“He does his galloping work up the hill at Murray Bridge but in between runs he goes back to Angaston Park as he likes the environment up there to relax and the combination of both suits him well.

Winning jockey Taylor Johnstone was relieved to chalk up her milestone win.

“I had been counting down to my 200th,” Johnstone said.

“It has been a long road from 190 to 200 but I’m definitely glad to reach it.

“Winning All Round has been a super consistent horse.

“I liked him from the moment I sat on him, but he was really green and didn’t know what he was doing.

“In fact he lost his maiden on protest at his debut. He learnt from it and has built a nice career.

“It was a nice win today.

“My horse was going well in the straight and lengthened when he was challenged. The more I asked the more he lengthened and that is what I like about him.

“He might even like a bit more ground in time.”
