Nosie By Nature

Winning is the best form of advertising if you are currently listed for an online auction and that is the case for Nosie By Nature.

Trained by Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor, Nosie By Nature ($3.80) came with a flashing run wide out to grab a photo finish victory in the Mildura Kia Tasman Benchmark 56 Handicap (1200m) at bet365Mildura on Sunday, May 24.

Rider Connor Murtagh pulled the five-year-old to the extreme outside of the Mildura straight and the gelding did best to grab a long head win from Volkano ($7.50) with Mr Markle ($2.90 fav) a nose away third.

Backing up in seven days after over-racing at Strathalbyn and finishing fifth, Nosie By Nature settled much better at Mildura and was ninth in the field of 11 early before Murtagh took him wide in the home straight.

He finished powerfully under Murtagh’s aggressive style to arrive in the last few bounds.

Trainer Aaron Bain said Nosie By Nature had been a victim of circumstances.

“After he ran at Oakbank on April 6 he suffered a foot abscess which set him back for a few weeks,” Bain said.

“Then when he was ready he was balloted out of two races so hadn’t raced for six weeks when we went to Strathalbyn.

“He was too fresh and went too keen which is not his style before finishing fifth.

“The decision was made to list him for sale online, but Ned and I suggested we make a gear change and back him up at Mildura and it worked perfectly.

“Today was a better guide of his ability and no doubt will add value to anyone interested in buying him. The auction closes on Wednesday.”

Winning jockey Connor Murtagh said Nosie By Nature could win again.

“He went super,” Murtagh said.

“The plan was to go back from his wide gate, and it was the right thing to do.

“He settled lovely and travelled lovely in my hands the whole way.

“I didn’t mean to come as wide as we did and I believe he got a bit lonely over the final 50 metres because of it.

“But he did enough to stick his neck out.

“I think there is still as bit of improvement in him.”
