Exciting day for Aaron Bain Racing on Saturday with our New Zealand purchase THUNDARA stepping out for the first time in South Australia &ndash; or will she?
Trainers Aaron Bain &amp; Ned Taylor sounded a word of warning with the heavy rain forecast for Adelaide over the weekend.
They will not take any unnecessary risks with the former New Zealand filly and have nominated for the Balaklava meeting next Wednesday as a backup.
The three-year-old filly was purchased in January with a view to hopefully contesting the Group 1 $1 million Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on Saturday, April 25.
It is a big ask as THUNDARA has only had one start and is still a maiden, but the trainers hold hopes the filly can improve enough to line up in the Oaks.
THUNDARA has accepted for the first time for ABR at Morphettville Parks on Saturday in race two, the AIG Security Maiden (1250m) at 12.27pm SA time.
Jason Holder will ride and the filly has gate five in an acceptance of 15 with one emergency.
Holder was aboard THUNDARA when she finished fourth in a 1050m trial at Morphettville on February 12.
Obviously, the filly will be better over more ground, but ABR would expect her to run home well on Saturday on the first step of her Oaks path.
Saturday&rsquo;s race looks a good quality maiden, and betting agencies have THUNDARA at $15 behind the favourite Ramasis which is $3.20.
ABR&rsquo;s other runner at Morphettville Parks is ultra-consistent STOKOMO in race six, the Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1400m) at 2.47pm SA time.
The five-year-old has drawn wide in gate nine in a field of 10 with Jake Toeroek booked to ride.
STOKOMO has a win and a second from two runs over the 1400 metres at Morphettville Park so it a track and trip which suits perfectly.
The gelding ran on powerfully over 1350m at Strathalbyn at his most recent run finishing second, and the third placegetter has since won in the city, so it is a good form race.
STOKOMO has been a very consistent galloper since joining ABR with a win, four seconds and a third.
Betting agencies have installed STOKOMO as the $4 favourite in an open race with seven of the 10 runners under $10.

<h3>Harness Racing</h3>
The main SA meeting this weekend is the Kadina Harness Racing Club&rsquo;s feature night at Port Pirie on Monday put back from Sunday.
ABR will have the one runner, NAROBI which contests race two, the 2026 Robust Worx Civil Solutions Yorke Peninsula HRC Cup (2050m) at 6.26pm SA time.
Wayne Hill will drive again, and the mare will come from gate three.
NAROBI was able to sit on The Reginator in the heat at Globe Derby Park last Saturday but on Sunday could find she might have to sit parked outside that horse which has drawn barrier two and looks the likely leader.
The word of warning about the Kadina meeting at Port Pirie is that the Bureau of Meteorology has forecast between 40mm-80mm of rain on Sunday in the Port Pirie area following a predicted up to 20mm on Saturday.
Worth keeping an eagle eye on the weather.

South Australian racing steps up a level on Saturday with Group and Listed racing and Aaron Bain Racing hopes to be a player in the better races as the meetings continue over the next few months.
Aaron Bain Racing goes racing at Morphettville on Saturday then Balaklava on Sunday.
At headquarters, ABR has two acceptors.
FOLLOWING SEA resumes in race four, the Michael and Virginia Wedding Anniversary Handicap (1522m) at 2.12 pm SA time.
The five-year-old has drawn barrier two in an acceptance of 15 with two emergencies and Todd Pannell has been engaged.
The gelding has not raced since August but has had two nice trials at Gawler and Murray Bridge to have him ready for a race return.
ABR would expect him to have as good preparation and hopefully be competitive.
FOLLOWING SEA opened at $18 in early markets behind the favourite Ronny Bee at $2.70. Built in action packed fluctuations, he has eased to $23 while the favourite has firmed into $2.
ABR&rsquo;s other runner on Saturday is LITTLEBOURKESTREET in race six, the Daniel &lsquo;Mini&rsquo; Balfour Memorial Handicap (1050m) at 3.22pm SA time.
LITTLEBOURKESTREET has come up with gate five in an acceptance of 15 with Jason Holder booked to ride.
The four-year-old mare was placed three times for ABR last preparation and has not raced since September.
Jason Holder was aboard LITTLEBOURKESTREET in a soft trial at Murray Bridge earlier in the month.
The mare has a win and second from three first up runs so ABR would hope she can run well on Saturday.
LITTLEBOURKESTREET opened at $8 and has eased to $9 in a wide open betting race with the favourite Blanc Visage firming from $6 into $4.80.
ABR has two acceptors at Balaklava on Sunday.
WOODSTOCK steps out in race five, the Happy 50th Jon G Three-Year-Old Maiden (1050m) at 3.18pm SA time.
The three-year-old has drawn barrier five in a field of 12 with Connor Murtagh to ride.
WOODSTOCK disappointed when resuming fading late over 1200m at Morphettville on January 31.
He had trialled well twice leading up to that run and ABR would expect him to improve sharply on Sunday.
TERRITORIAN is ABR&rsquo;s other runner for Grand Syndicates in race eight the BTR Excavations Benchmark 56 Handicap (1300m) at 5.10pm SA time.
The four-year-old has drawn gate seven in a field of 16 with Jason Holder to ride.
The gelding has not had much luck in his two runs from a break and Sunday&rsquo;s race looks ideal for him to step up.
At his last run, TERRITORIAN had gate one at Gawler when the inside of the track was off and horses needed to be towards the middle of the track. To be beaten less than two lengths was an excellent effort.
<h3>Harness Racing</h3>
Just the one ABR runner at Globe Derby Park on Saturday.
Classy mare NAROBI lines up in race four the Ladbrokes Yorke Peninsula HRC Cup heat one (1800m) at 9.02pm SA time.
She has drawn gate two in a small acceptance of five.
ABR welcomes back champion driver Wayne Hill from injury, and he will be in the sulky.
NAROBI sat outside the hot favourite Centrefold Star at her last run and proved too strong with Bernadette Page in the sulky.
She has won two of her last three starts and ABR hopes she can chalk up another victory.
Overseas, ABR was extremely happy to have our inaugural Horse Of The Year, SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS return to the winner&rsquo;s list in the United States last week.
Running at the famed Meadowlands track in New Jersey, SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS sat behind the speed early in a Horse &amp; Geldings Rating 80.5 Pace (1600m) before peeling off a last quarter of 27.1 seconds to win comfortably rating 1:51.2.
Trained by Australian Shane Tritton and driven by his wife Lauren, it was great to have our $1 million pacer back to form and hopefully he can keep stepping up and showing his ability in the US.

Trainers Aaron Bain &amp; Ned Taylor said there were three options for the filly at the meeting.
Despite not being completely comfortable around the home turn at Clare, FLIRT powered home over the final 200 metres to win well.

ABR is extremely happy with the two yearlings purchased at Karaka in New Zealand which have arrived in South Australia.
Both are by the exciting young stallion Super Seth, the filly out of River Flow was the one we wanted from the sale, while the colt is out of Notimetowaste.
ABR also picked up one yearling colt from the recent Inglis Classic sale in Sydney.
He is by another exciting young stallion In The Congo from the mare Stolen Glance.
Superbly bred, In The Congo&rsquo;s first yearlings are being offered this year and being sought by Australia&rsquo;s leading stables.
ABR&rsquo;s colt is the second foal of the winning mare Stolen Glance.
A winner herself at two, she is a half-sister to stakes performers Tempt Me Not and Castanya. Bolstering the broodmare line is the third dam Tempest Morn, the multiple Group 1 winner of over $750,000 including wins in the Ansett Stakes and SAJC Australasian Oaks.
Daughters of Tempest Morn have proven themselves as broodmares, producing the likes of Good Standing ($1.58 million prize money) and Smart Meteor ($488,000).&nbsp;
No runners at Strathalbyn on Wednesday but ABR will have starters this weekend at Morphettville on Saturday and Balaklava on Sunday.
<h4>Weekend Star</h4>
FLIRT is ABR&rsquo;s Weekend Star following her tough win at Clare last Friday.
The speedy three-year-old filly returned to the winning list with an impressive victory in the Magic FM 105.9 Class One Handicap (1100m) at Clare on Friday, February 13.
Trained by Aaron Bain &amp; Ned Taylor, and ridden by Taylor Johnstone, FLIRT, a $3.60 chance, sprinted sharply to grab a neck win over Santasia ($2.20 fav) with Nadege ($4.60) a length away third.
FLIRT began quickly to cross and lead but the favourite loomed up to assume control in the run to the home turn.
The ABR filly looked in a bit of trouble when the leader kicked on straightening but once Taylor Johnstone was able to get her properly balanced, she extended in great style for grab the win.
Trainer Ned Taylor said FLIRT had overcome a home turn issue to win strongly.
&ldquo;It was a lovely win,&rdquo; Taylor said.
&ldquo;Look, she was tough, did not handle the turn at all well, hanging out.
&ldquo;She then had to run down the leader, but she was tough enough to do it, just in time.
&ldquo;It was good to get another win with her.
Winning jockey Taylor Johnstone was full of credit for FLIRT.
&ldquo;She was super today,&rdquo; Johnstone said.
&ldquo;She bounced the gates real quick and we found the rail early but one out wide wanted to go a lot quicker.
&ldquo;I just let it go and kept the filly in a rhythm. She has happy enough to settle outside it and travelled beautifully.
&ldquo;She struggled to get around the bend a bit and wanted to lay off the track. It is a tight turning circuit.
&ldquo;To her credit she picked herself up well from that and did a really good job to chase down the leader. It was a great run.&rdquo;

ABR Weekend Review

The excitement levels are building for Aaron Bain Racing with two of our potential stars trialling on Thursday at Morphettville.
Our recently New Zealand purchase THUNDARA and the impressive winner ONE MORE SONG both stepped out as ABR builds our team to compete in the South Australian autumn carnival over the next few months.
Both Jason Holder (THUNDARA) and Todd Pannell (ONE MORE SONG) were very impressed by the trials of their respective mounts.
Trainers Aaron Bain &amp; Ned Taylor had several other horses to trial which looks to have good campaigns ahead.
Interesting acceptances for ABR on the weekend with meetings at Clare on Friday and Morphettville Parks on Saturday.
Debutante I AM THE TIGER and the recent Oakbank winner FLIRT accepted at both meetings, but the trainers have opted to take up the Friday races.
FOLLOWING SEA accepted at Morphettville Parks on Saturday but will stay home after a horrible barrier draw.
On Friday, I AM THE TIGER has accepted in race two, the Sportsbet Racing Replays Maiden (1100m) at 1.30pm SA time.
The first starter, a daughter of Strasbourg, has drawn barrier four in an acceptance of 16 with four emergencies and Taylor Johnstone has been engaged.
I AM THE TIGER had three trials last year before going for a break. She has had three trials again this preparation, the most recent being a win over 1000m at Murray Bridge on February 5.
The filly has shown good speed so should be suited around the tight Clare circuit.
The speedy FLIRT is engaged in race three at Clare, the Magic FM 105.9 Class One Handicap (1100m) at 2.15pm SA time.
The three-year-old filly has come up with gate six in a field of eight with Taylor Johnstone to ride.
FLIRT had no luck at Oakbank last start when trapped wide but was an impressive all-the-way winner at that track at her previous run.
Hopefully, the filly has enough speed to settle forward at Clare and be hard to beat again.
With the three scratchings at Morphettville Parks, ABR will have no runners.

Flirt

Aaron Bain Racing heads to our home track of Sportsbet Gawler on Wednesday with three acceptors.
First starter BEL OCEAN is the first runner for trainers Aaron Bain &amp; Ned Taylor in race two, the Matrix Solar Solutions Maiden (1508m) at 2.20pm SA time.
A three-year-old filly by Ocean Park, BEL OCEAN has drawn barrier one in an acceptance of 13 with apprentice Taylor Johnstone to ride.
The filly has had three trials, all over 1000 metres, to ready for her racetrack debut and Johnstone was aboard at her most recent at Murray Bridge on February 5.
The draw and distance should be ideal, and it will be good to see BEL OCEAN in a race.
DISCREETLY BLUE is ABR&rsquo;s next runner in race three, the Gawler Arms Hotel Maiden (1208m) at 2.55pm SA time.
Jason Holder rides the four-year-old which has gate three in an acceptance of 13.
The Grand Syndicates-owned gelding debuted for ABR at Gawler on January 3 and was an excellent third on a track which favoured inside runners. He came wide to make a run and did well.
The trainers have elected to keep him on the fresh side and from a favourable draw expect him to be competitive on Wednesday in what looks to be a strong maiden.
ABR then has to wait until the final event, race seven, the Irongate Australia Rating 0-58 Handicap (1208m) at 5.15pm to see our final runner, TERRITORIAN.
Another Grand Syndicates galloper, TERRITORIAN has gate one in an acceptance of 12 with Jason Holder to ride.
Holder rode the four-year-old when he won a trial at Gawler on January 6.
TERRITORIAN resumed from a break at Oakbank on January 21 over 1050m and found the trip a shade short.
He looks much better placed on Wednesday, and again, ABR would hope to see him in the finish.
ABR has nominations in for race meetings at Clare on Friday, and Morphettville Parks on Saturday.
On the winner front, ABR saluted with talented mare NAROBI at Globe Derby Park on Saturday.
Her win is encapsulated in the Weekend Star section.

Weekend Star
NAROBI is ABR&rsquo;s Weekend Star following her tough win at Globe Derby Park on Saturday.
Coming from gate six in the Harness Power Of Hope Pace (1800m), NAROBI came out quick for Bernadette Page but just could not quite cross Centrefold Star, the well backed long odds-on favourite which had gate one.
Page allowed the mare to travel strongly outside the leader ensuring there was a solid tempo.
The favourite tried to grab a break turning for home, but NAROBI responded to Page&rsquo;s urgings and grabbed the lead to win going away by 2-1/2 metres.
The mare rated a smart 1:57.0.
She has won three of her six starts for ABR under the care of Peter Bain.
NAROBI loves to bowl along, and more wins are definitely in store for the mare.

Calm before the storm for Aaron Bain Racing with a race day absence for a week.
No runners at Murray Bridge on Wednesday or Morphettville on Saturday but look out for the ABR team to be much more active later this month through to May targeting some of the feature races.
ABR has 80 horses in the stable spread between Angaston Park and our on-track Gawler facility. A few of the team trialled at Murray Bridge on Thursday.
We expect to be at Gawler next Wednesday, Clare on Friday and Morphettville Parks on Saturday.
Trainers Aaron Bain &amp; Ned Taylor are looking forward to saddling up many quality thoroughbreds leading through to the feature autumn carnival in May.
Harness Racing
ABR will have three runners at Globe Derby Park on Saturday.
Trainer Peter Bain will gear up the smart mare NAROBI in the opening event, the Harness The Power Of Hope Pace (1800m) at 6.48pm SA time.
After a brilliant win at Gawler the mare was not disgraced when second at Globe Derby Park at her last run.
Bernadette Page will drive coming from gate six.
DREAMALITTLEDREAM is ABR&rsquo;s next starter in race six, the Ray White Adelaide Commercial Pace (1800m) at 9.40pm SA time.
Again, Bernadette Page will be in the sulky, and the mare will come from gate four.
DREAMALITTLEDREAM came from a back row draw at her most recent run and made excellent ground to finish fourth.
Despite a small field, it is bound to be a strongly contested race.
The talented POPPY LANE rounds out the night in race seven, the Bargain Steel Centre Pace (1800m) at 10.11pm SA time.
The filly has drawn gate one for trainer Peter Bain and also is to be driven by Bernadette Page.
She has won two of her last three starts and from gate one has the gate speed to be use her good draw.
Promising three-year-old SIGNATURE LOOK will look to stay unbeaten when he lines up at Kilmore at the club&rsquo;s Cup meeting on Saturday.
A winner of his only two starts, SIGNATURE LOOK will contest the Reg Withers 3YO Classic (1690m), race nine at 9.55pm SA time.
Trained by Emma Stewart and to be driven by Kate Gath, the son of Poster Boy won at Maryborough on debut, then was impressive leading throughout in the Holloway Classic at Ballarat.
On Saturday, he has drawn the extreme outside gate in a field of seven.
It should be a good test as he paces along in his career.
At Albion Park, IMA QUEEN BEE, following last week&rsquo;s win, goes around again in race nine, the Garrards Horse &amp; Hound Mares Open Pace (1660m) at 10.55pm SA time.
A brilliant all-the-way winner last Saturday, this week she comes from gate five in a field of six with Pete McMullen to drive for trainer Chantal Turpin.
The mare has been so consistent for ABR and has the ability to win again.

Aaron Bain Racing is looking forward to going racing in February as the quality of racing steps up in South Australia leading up to Adelaide Cup carnival, Oakbank then the mighty May carnival.
In January, ABR debuted a smart two-year-old ZOUWIN which won at Murray Bridge with a tough performance.
Going forward, trainers Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor have stable stars such as SHADY THINKER, DUBAI FOCUS and ONE MORE SONG to step out again while the stable is keen to line up with exciting New Zealand three-year-old filly THUNDARA which hopefully can measure up in Group company.

LARGS LEGACY was beaten in a photo seeking to give the Port Districts Football Club a first winner with Aaron Bain Racing at Strathalbyn on Sunday.
Talk about David and Goliath, the diminutive LARGS LEGACY failed by a long head to grab the winner Hazy Daze, a giant thoroughbred. And in another 30 metres she would have won.
Let&rsquo;s hope a win is not too far away so the Port boys can sing the club song.
ABR is happy to report our two purchases from the Karaka yearling sales in New Zealand have arrived at their new home of Angaston Park.
The first purchase was a colt by exciting young stallion Super Seth out of the mare Notimetowaste for $80,000. He was the one we really wanted,
He is from the family of Victoria Oaks placegetter Hurry Curry and also the three-time SA winner The Mansman.
We then went to $110,00 for another Super Seth yearling, a filly out of River Flow.
The dam is an unraced sister to NZ stakes winner Acquarello.
The SA stakes winner Kulgrinda is from the family which has a strong black type presence.
Both yearlings were bred by the successful Waikato Stud.
Just the one acceptor at Thomas Farms Murray Bridge on Wednesday but might need a bit of luck obtaining a start.
FOLLOWING SEA is ABR&rsquo;s runner but is third emergency in an acceptance of 15 in race seven, the Magic Million Raceday 7th March Benchmark 58 Handicap (1200m) at 4.35pm SA time.
Jason Holder has been booked to ride, and FOLLOWING SEA has come up with barrier four.
The five-year-old has not raced since August when unplaced over 1800m.
The gelding has had two trials, each time with Jason Holder in the saddle, to prepare him for a return racing. One of those trials was a win over 1000 metres at Gawler on January 6.
While FOLLOWING SEA is better over more ground, ABR would be hoping to see him running strongly through the line &ndash; if he obtains a start.
<h3>Weekend Star</h3>
ABR has gone to Queensland for this week&rsquo;s Weekend Star.
Classy mare IMA QUEEN BEE takes the nod for her win in the Garrards Horse &amp; Hound Open Mares Pace (1660m) at Albion Park.
Importantly, it took her stake wins past $50,000 for ABR since being purchased from New South Wales in June last year.
She was won three races from 19 starts since going into the stables of Chantal Turpin.
On Saturday, &ldquo;Leader Peter&rdquo; McMullen speared IMA QUEEN BEE ($2.40) to the front from gate three but had the odds-on favourite from gate four attacking early with an extra quick 26.3 second first quarter but she held out to control the race.
McMullen had a comfortable 30.2 second quarter before dashing home in 54.7 seconds to score a 2-1/2 metre win rating a sensational 1:51.0.
IMA QUEEN BEE has been a smart and consistent performer for ABR and keeps adding to her bank balance.

ABR Weekly Wrap

Friday was an emotional day for Aaron Bain Racing as we celebrated the life of our patriarch Val Bain.
Val was the devoted wife of Trevor, mother of Peter and Julieanne and Jenny, Nanny of Aaron and Amy, Bradley and Sam and Alex and Bree plus great grandma of Alby.
Not surprisingly, a massive crowd attended her funeral in Gawler while those who couldn&rsquo;t attend watched via live stream.
Such was Val&rsquo;s personality and demeanour, she would be imploring ABR to keep going, improving and growing the business and so we will on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
On Saturday, the Morphettville meeting will be shared between the main circuit and also the Parks track.
The promising CATHAY EXPRESS steps out in race one, the Quayclean Maiden Plate (1400m) at 11.25am SA time on the Parks circuit.
She has drawn barrier nine in an acceptance of 11 with Taylor Johnstone to ride and claim 1.5kg.
CATHAY EXPRESS has run well at both her starts, the most recent over 1100 metres at Murray Bridge on January 10.
The extra distance will suit her perfectly on Saturday.
CATHAY EXPRESS has opened second favourite at $3.70 behind the favourite Torpedoes which is at $1.90.
WOODSTOCK, scratched from Gawler Wednesday, has accepted in race five, the PFD Food Services Maiden (1200m) at 1.42pm SA time around the bigger Morphettville circuit.
The three-year-old has drawn barrier one in an acceptance of 13 with Jason Holder to ride.
He failed to flatter on debut in February last year. WOODSTOCK&rsquo;s two recent trials this preparation have been good and would expect him to be more competitive on Saturday.
WOODSTOCK is a $12 chance in a very opening betting race at $5 the field with the runners sharing favouritism being Sayersitisn&rsquo;tso, Uptown Monk, Yarrawizardharry and Prestige Ka Ying.
Impressive Gawler winner MRS PENNY CRACKER is ABR&rsquo;s final runner in race seven, the Festival City Hire Handicap (2000m) at 2.52pm SA time, also on the larger circuit.
Taylor Johnstone stays aboard with a claim of 1.5kg drawing barrier nine in an acceptance of 20 with four emergencies. There were already three scratchings by Wednesday evening but none affecting the ABR mare&rsquo;s barrier.
MRS PENNY CRACKER was due to run last week but has been ultra-consistent and should run well again in a tougher field.
However, she has been installed an equal favourite at $5.50 with Coorong Tycoon in yet another wide open affair.
On Sunday, ABR has four acceptors at Strathalbyn Cup day.
Talk about going from extremes. Last Wednesday, LARGS LEGACY drew the extreme outside gate at Gawler. On Sunday, she has gate one in the opening event, the Sportsbet Jockey Watch Maiden (1600m) at 12.55pm SA time.
Taylor Johnstone retains the ride after riding the filly at Naracoorte at her last run.
The track and trip should suit LARGS LEGACY in the acceptance of nine and ABR would expect her to run well.
ABR has two acceptors in race six, the Victor Harbor Motor Co Benchmark 64 Handicap (1350m) at 4.05pm SA time.
STOKOMO has drawn 10 in an acceptance of 18 with four emergencies and Jason Holder has been booked to ride.
THERE GOES MY HERO fared worse with barrier 10 and Campbell Rawiller in the saddle.
It will be STOKOMO&rsquo;s first run at Strathalbyn, but he should have no issues with the uphill run to the home turn.
He resumed from a slight break with an excellent second over 1107m at Gawler and the increase to 1350m suits ideally.
THERE GOES MY HERO is also having his first start at Strathalbyn, but his powerful finish will see him charging home.
He drops back from 1507m when fourth at Gawler on January 3.
The expected tempo should suit the five-year-old and he will be charging home.
FOLLOWING SEA accepted in race eight, the Springfield Farm Benchmark 46 Handicap (1200m) at 5.10pm SA time.
The five-year-old has come with a poor draw of 14 in an acceptance of 18 with four emergencies.
Connor Murtagh has been booked to ride.
FOLLOWING SEA has had two trials to ready for his return.
ABR will be looking for him to be charging home as he will find the trip a shade short.
<h2>Harness Racing</h2>
ABR had to wait until 10.46pm on Wednesday at Globe Derby Park to see three-year-old filly POPPY LANE contest the Seymour Group Concession Drivers Series Pace (1800m).
It was worth the wait as POPPY LANE, driven by ABR employee Bernadette Page, scored comfortably by eight metres.
Coming from barrier five, Page elected to stay out of the early action and was able to settle one-out, one-back but then decided to come around and have a dip for the front.
However, the lead wasn&rsquo;t up for grabs, so she raced outside the lead before taking charge off the back and winning well.
No runners for ABR at Globe Derby Park on Saturday or Monday.
At Albion Park, IMA QUEEN BEE goes around in race nine, the Garrards Horse &amp; Hound Mares Open Pace (1660m) at 10.12pm SA time.
An excellent second last week, she comes from gate three in a field of six with Pete McMullen to drive for trainer Chantal Turpin.
IMA QUEEN BEE has been a model of consistency, always running well from reasonable draws and she looks a good chance on Saturday.

Aaron Bain Racing&rsquo;s action on the Australia Day weekend was in New Zealand at the annual Karaka yearling sales.
Our team of Ned Taylor, Will O&rsquo;Malley and Nathan Higgins picked up two yearlings on Sunday&rsquo;s opening day.
ABR&rsquo;s first success was lot 10, a colt by exciting young stallion Super Seth out of the mare Notimetowaste for $80,000.
The colt is from the family of Victoria Oaks placegetter Hurry Curry and also the three-time SA winner The Mansman.
We then went to $110,00 for another Super Seth yearling, a filly out of River Flow.
The dam is an unraced sister to NZ stakes winner Acquarello.
The SA stakes winner Kulgrinda is from the family which has a strong black type presence.
Both yearlings were bred by the successful Waikato Stud.
ABR is currently selling shares in both yearlings, and if either is of interest, look at the ABR website or contact Nathan Higgins.
The extreme heat conditions played havoc with the schedule on the weekend but racing returns on Wednesday at Sportsbet Gawler and ABR had three acceptors but will have only the one runner.
WOODSTOCK accepted in race one, the Criterion Tavern Gawler Three-Year-Old Maiden (1100m) but unfortunately drawn the extreme outside of the gate in a field of nine. He will wait for another day.
TOPTHORN and LARGS LEGACY accepted in race four, the Adelaide Bus &amp; Coach SA Three-Year-Olds &amp; Over Maiden (1500m) at 3.25pm SA time.
Jockey Connor Murtagh has been booked for TOPTHORN which has barrier eight in an acceptance of 16 with two emergencies.
TOPTHORN found the 1200 metres too short on debut and the gelding will appreciate the extra ground on Wednesday.
LARGS LEGACY also fared horribly in the draws coming up with the extreme outside in the acceptance of 16.
He was second emergency and there were four early scratchings ensuring he would obtain a run, but trainers Aaron Bain &amp; Ned Taylor have decided to wait for Strathalbyn on Sunday.
<h3>Harness Racing</h3>
ABR has interest in two runners at Globe Derby Park on Wednesday.
GENERAL ROCKER lines up in race two the Hahn Super Dry Pace (2230m) at 6.43pm SA time.
He will come from gate five with talented concession driver Bernadette Page in the sulky.
Page drove GENERAL ROCKER off a back row draw at his most recent run when an unlucky sixth, not having much luck.
Trainer Peter Bain has POPPY LANE in race 10, the Seymour Group Concession Drivers Series (1800m) at 10.44pm SA time.&rsquo;
The filly come from gate five with Bernadette Page to drive.
POPPY LANE suffered broken gear at her most recent run when galloping and eventually causing reinsman Wayne Hill to crash to the track, damaging his pelvis and sidelining him for at least six weeks.
She was impressive with a maiden win at Mildura on December 30 after trialling well.
ABR hopes for a bold showing on Wednesday.
<h3>Weekend Star</h3>
ABR is very excited about the potential of SIGNATURE LOOK, a brilliant winner at Ballarat on Saturday.
Trained by Emma Stewart and driven by Kate Gath, SIGNATURE LOOK led throughout in the Colin &amp; Heather Holloway 3YO Classic (2200m) to score by three metres.
Backed from $2.1 into $1.75 favourite, the son of stallion Poster Boy, rated 1:58.9 with a brilliant 26.8 second final 400 metres.
He is unbeaten having won on debut at Maryborough.
Driver Kate Gath said SIGNATURE LOOK was a very promising three-year-old.
&ldquo;I was never really worried once we found the front,&rdquo; Gath said.
&ldquo;I had to balance him around the home bend when he was being challenged.
&ldquo;He really doesn&rsquo;t know what he is doing yet so I knew he would definitely keep coming.
&ldquo;I knew he would give a good kick and I really like him.
&ldquo;The lead time was solid, and I know we got it cheap after that, but I thought if he led we would win and he did.
&ldquo;He is still learning but is good and pretty tractable.
&ldquo;He is a pretty boy and a pretty nice horse.&rdquo;

Aaron Bain Racing ventures to the famous Karaka Yearling Sales in New Zealand for the first time this weekend.
There has been a concerted effort by the ABR team to source horses from New Zealand and we are most excited about three-year-old filly THUNDARA which arrived at Angaston Park early this week.
THUNDARA, formerly trained by Stephen Marsh, was sold out by ABR after being offered on our socials. She was bred by the successful Mapperley Stud which has retained a percentage in her ownership.
Trainers Aaron Bain &amp; Ned Taylor hope she might be able to develop into an SA Oaks chance.
She is a filly, ABR would look to kick off at 1400m in Adelaide and build out to the SA Oaks of 2000m on April 26, with then a possible view to the Queensland Oaks over 2200m on June 6.
THUNDARA is only one of a number of horses we have purchased from the Shaky Isles.
DANNY&rsquo;S DILEMMA was recently purchased after impressive trial performances. He is an unraced four-year-old with great speed and should show up in SA.
Trainer Ned Taylor along with High Performance &amp; Racing Manager Will O&rsquo;Malley will be at Karaka so check the ABR socials to see which yearlings they have purchased.
Will is pretty keen on several, so let&rsquo;s hope they measure up and don&rsquo;t exceed our budget.
The hot weather has caused massive changes to racing in South Australia. The Morphettville meeting, originally scheduled to start at 11.57am, has been brought forward to 9.27am!
The Strathalbyn race meeting set down for Australia Day on Monday has been moved now to Sunday, February 1.
The Globe Derby Park harness meeting set down for Saturday has been moved to Sunday.
ABR has four acceptors at Morphettville.
Last-start winner MRS PENNY CRACKER kicks off our day in race three, the Adelaide Galvanising Industries Handicap (1600m) at 10.27am SA time.
Apprentice Taylor Johnstone stays aboard and with her 1.5kg, MRS PENNY CRACKER will carry .5kg under the minimum coming from the extreme outside draw in an acceptance of nine. There was an early scratching meaning she is already into gate eight.
ABR was delighted with the mare&rsquo;s win at Gawler at her most recent outing and would expect her to be competitive again.
Punters also believe MRS PENNY CRACKER will be hard to beat and he has been backed from $3.20 into $2.90 favourite.
Next up, in race four, the Festival Hire Handicap (1600m), at 10.57am SA time, FULL OF SINCERITY steps out for the first time for ABR.
Campbell Rawiller will ride, and he also has drawn the extreme outside gate, in a field of eight.
Formerly trained by Matthew Dunn in northern New South Wales, FULL OF SINCERITY was a winner of his last run over 1600 metres at Randwick on July 26 before being purchased by ABR.
The six-year-old has had two nice trials for ABR and we would expect him to show his quality on Saturday with a forward showing.
He is at $12 for Saturday with the favourite Teardrop Rotation at $3.30.
DISCREETLY BLUE is ABR&rsquo;s next runner in race five, The Fotobase Group Maiden (1200m) at 11.27am SA time.
Raced by Grand Syndicates, DISCREETLY BLUE has barrier six in an acceptance of 11 with Jason Holder to ride.
The four-year-old ran on nicely when third at his first run for ABR and has placed twice from three second up runs.
It is a strong maiden as you would expect in the city, but ABR likes DISCREETLY BLUE and expects him to run well.
DISCREETLY BLUE is a $6 chance with the favourite first starter Uptown Monk at $4.40.
ABR has to wait until race 10, the Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap (1200m), at 2.17pm SA time, for our final runner, STOKOMO.
An ultra-consistent galloper, STOKOMO will come from barrier three in a field of 12 with Teagan Voorham in the saddle.
He resumed from a slight letup with an excellent second over 1107m at Gawler on Jan 3.
In his time with ABR, STOKOMO has been a model of consistency and there is no reason why he won&rsquo;t be around the mark again.
STOKOMO has drifted from $7 to $9 with the favourite Angel Torque at $3.70.
<h3>Harness Racing</h3>
Globe Derby Park has been moved from Saturday to Sunday because of the extreme heat.
Three runners for ABR and trainer Peter Bain at Globe Derby Park on Sunday, two in the once race.
MIKIS BEAUTY and DREAMALITTLEDREAM both qualified for the $20,000 Vale Val Bain Mares Classic (1800m), race three at 8.09pm SA time.
Obviously, it is a race ABR would love to win, and MIKIS BEAUTY looks our best chance coming from gate four with Samantha Hill to drive, replacing her injured husband Wayne.
DREAMALITTLEDREAM will carry saddlecloth 10, coming from gate three on the second row. with Bernadette Page in the sulky.
Outstanding Gawler winner NAROBI is ABR&rsquo;s other runner in race seven, the Northside Trophies Pace (2230m) at 10.00pm SA time with Bernadette Page to drive.
The mare was brilliant with an all-the-way win at Gawler and no doubt she will go forward from gate three in the small field of six.
Exciting young pacer SIGNATURE LOOK steps out at Ballarat in Victoria on Saturday in the Colin &amp; Heather Holloway 3YO Classic (2200m) at 7.02pm SA time.
Trained by Emma Stewart, SIGNATURE LOOK will be driven by Kate Gath who was in the sulky on debut at Maryborough when he rated an excellent 1:54.4.

The race is a perfect opportunity to test SIGNATURE LOOK in tougher company.

She comes from gate five with Pete McMullen to drive for trainer Chantal Turpin.
IMA QUEEN BEE was an excellent fifth last week from a back row draw and looks a good chance this week.

What a fabulous weekend for Aaron Bain Racing with the special win by ZOUWIN at Thomas Farms Murray Bridge on Saturday.
The first two-year-old runner for ABR this season, ZOUWIN led throughout in a courageous performance.
Trainer Aaron Bain said the filly had had a quiet week at Angaston Park following her victory and a decision on her immediate future would be made at the end of the week.

Busy weekend for ABR trainer Ned Taylor and Will O&rsquo;Malley, High Performance &amp; Racing Manager as they are heading to the Karaka Yearling Sales in New Zealand.

On Monday, ABR had a team of five trial at Murray Bridge, and we are looking forward to having a few runners at Morphettville on Saturday.
Just the one runner, TERRITORIAN, at Wednesday&rsquo;s twilight meeting at Oakbank.
And we have to wait until the final event, race seven, the Coopers Brewery Benchmark 56 Handicap (1050m) at 6.10pm SA time.
A Grand Syndicates runner, TERRITORIAN has drawn barrier one in an acceptance of 19 with three emergencies, one of which has already been scratched.
Heavyweight jockey Campbell Rawiller has the ride, and the gelding is weighted on 61kg.
The four-year-old has not raced since finishing fourth at Mildura on August 9.
He has had two trials to ready him for a racing return, the most recent a win at Gawler on January 6 over 1000m.&rsquo;
ABR would expect TERRITORIAN to be competitive on Wednesday.

<h2>Harness Racing</h2>
ABR wishes our stable driver and valued employee Wayne Hill a speedy recovery after his fall at Globe Derby Park on Monday.
Driving the ABR&rsquo;s POPPY LANE, Hill tried valiantly to get her into a pace after she broke soon after the start in race two but crashed to the track suffering two fractures in his pelvis.
He is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
Wayne lives life flat out so ABR is not sure how he will handle having to sit still for an extended period of time. Probably we should spare a thought for wife Sam, having to put up with him.
<h2>Weekend Star</h2>
No prizes for guessing ZOUWIN as ABR&rsquo;s Weekend star.
The two-year-old filly was superb winning on race debut at Thomas Farms Murray Bridge.
To lead throughout at her first race start around the spacious circuit, and survive a late challenge, was outstanding.
Tears flowed with the victory as ZOUWIN was the first thoroughbred runner for ABR since the passing of family matriarch Val Bain, 86, on Monday evening following a short illness.
For trainers Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor, it was special as the filly was first two-year-old runner for the 2025-26 racing season.
ZOUWIN was cheered home on course by more than 40 of her owners as she led throughout in the Bryan Guy Memorial Plate (1000m).
Despite coming from the outside gate in a field of seven, the daughter of Zousain flew the gates to lead easily, then showed great heart to stall off the challengers.
Ridden by Taylor Johnstone, ZOUWIN, well backed at $2.70, scored by a head from Verzain ($8) with Image Artist ($21), 1-3/4 lengths away third.
Just a $36,000 purchase, the filly collected $35,000 for the win along with a $21,120 Racing Rewards SA bonus.
Trainer Aaron Bain acknowledged the importance of ZOUWIN&rsquo;s victory.
&ldquo;We lost my Dad&rsquo;s (Peter) mum (Val) early in the week and it has been a tough week,&rdquo; Bain said.
&ldquo;She loved her racing and would have put a circle around this filly today in the paper &ndash; that was her first job in the morning.
&ldquo;This was our first thoroughbred runner since, and it has made me sad.
&ldquo;She was 86-years-old, the matriarch and where ABR started and she is watching from above today.
&ldquo;ZOUWIN was in front for a long time and I think Nanny sooled her home.
&ldquo;A big credit to Ned (Taylor) and the team at home,&rdquo; Bain said.
&ldquo;At Angaston Park, we&rsquo;ve got a 500-metre jump out chute at the bottom of the hill, and it has been famous for young horses over the years.
&ldquo;It was part of our plan going there and she is one of 42 two-year-olds in training and the first we have stepped out this season.
&ldquo;It is a big win for Ned, the team and myself and for the support Wayne Mitchell has thrown behind us on his property.&rdquo;
Bain paid tribute to the support of ZOUWIN&rsquo;s ownership group.
&ldquo;I put out an audio to do lunch as it was our first two-year-old runner for the season and thought I would get one table of 10 but we ended up with four tables &ndash; a great result and now we can celebrate.&rdquo;
&ldquo;It is only ZOUWIN&rsquo;s first full preparation since being broken in.
&ldquo;After the sales she was in for three weeks, out for a month, in for three weeks, out for about six weeks and this is really only her first full prep.
&ldquo;She was going to the paddock last Friday as we thought she was a bit shin sore, but she had just knocked her leg.
&ldquo;She galloped well on the weekend and again through the week.
&ldquo;We tried to run her five weeks ago, but the race fell away and we were waiting and waiting.
&ldquo;We were going to run last week but we pulled out, and the race fell over and here we are today.&rdquo;
Winning jockey Taylor Johnstone was full of praise for ZOUWIN.
&ldquo;It was very exciting for a large group of owners to have a win with her today,&rdquo; Johnstone said.
&ldquo;Her early speed shocked me a little bit.
&ldquo;I knew she was quick out of the gates but didn&rsquo;t expect that.
&ldquo;Aaron said to just go with her and she got across easily.
&ldquo;To her credit, she has done a massive job &ndash; to be in front that long way out and to keep kicking.
&ldquo;When that horse caught up, she fought on to the line.&rdquo;
Johnstone said she had ridden ZOUWIN last year.
&ldquo;I did a jump out on her early days.
&ldquo;Aaron and Ned have done a massive job with her &ndash; they are great supporters on mine, and it is much appreciated.&rdquo;
