ABR Weekend Preview

Aaron Bain Racing hopes to join in the Christmas festivities with our first Victorian winner on Saturday as we head to the big Ballarat Cup meeting.

DUAL PRESSURE looks well placed in race 10, the $130,000 Manhari Handicap (1400m) at 5.10pm SA time.

He has drawn well in gate two in an acceptance of 20 with four emergencies and Jason Holder will take the ride.

The track was rated soft seven at acceptance time and ABR hopes the track will be perfect on Saturday.

DUAL PRESSURE is racing in great form and worked in fine style at Gawler on Tuesday morning before heading east.

He was not helped by the race day rain at his most recent run at Morphettville on November 22 when run down late to finish second in the Happy Trails Final (1600m).

Interestingly, he ran third in this Ballarat race a year ago at his last run before being purchased by ABR.

No respect from betting operators and DUAL PRESSURE had an opening price of $17 but some punters forced his quote into $16 in an opening betting race with Sunshineinmypocket the public elect at $6.

Only one runner for trainers Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.

The promising STOCKMAN’S CHOICE will have his second start in race four, the Sportsbet Feed Maiden (1250m) at 2.17pm SA time.

Apprentice Alana Livesey has been booked to ride and claim 1.5kg off his weight of 56.5kg.  He has drawn barrier six in an acceptance of 13 with one emergency.

STOCKMAN’S CHOICE was a nice fourth on debut at Murray Bridge over 1200 metres on November 19.

ABR expects him to be running strongly through the line on Saturday and will be even better suited over more ground later in his preparation.

Punters took an opening quote of $27, and he has firmed in to $17 with the favourite Act Natural at $3.90.

Three acceptors on Sunday for ABR at the Thomas Farms Murray Bridge meeting.

Our day starts in race one, the Vale Barb Burris Class One Plate (2200m) at 1.34pm SA time.

OH LOVEY NO looks well placed drawing gate one in a small acceptance of 7 with Todd Pannell in the saddle.

The mare was an eye-catching second at Strathalbyn on November 16 at her first run in just over two months,

Fitter now, OH LOVEY NO is expected to run well.

MRS PENNY CRACKER steps out in race five, the 3B Financial Services Mares Rating 0-58 Handicap (1400m) at 3.55pm SA time.

She also has come up with gate one in an acceptance of 12 with Taylor Johnstone to ride.

MRS PENNY CRACKER was a great second at Strathalbyn on November 16 following her maiden win at Mindarie Halidon.

ABR expects her to also be prominent again.

To complete an incredible hat-trick, NAVY GOLD has also drawn barrier one in his race six, the BH Partners Entires & Geldings Rating 0-58 Handicap (1400m) at 4.35pm SA time.

Taylor Johnstone will ride in an acceptance of 18 with two emergencies.

While he will be even better suited over more ground, ABR would be expecting NAVY GOLD to be running strongly through the line at a track where he has had four starts at the trip for a win, second and a third.

Harness Racing

Big weekend for ABR again with our three-year-olds BEACH DIAMOND and CAPTAIN PERFECT among a host of stars stepping out at Melton on Friday seeking a feature win in the heats of the Breeders Crown.

Our runners will be seeking to qualify for the Group 2 $100,000 finals at Melton on Saturday, December 13.

First up for ABR on Friday will be the brilliant LOUCASSO in the first heat of the IRT Breeders Crown (2240m) for two-year-old colts & geldings, race three at 7.03pm SA time.

LOUCASSO has drawn gate seven, the outside of the front row and will be driven by Mark Pitt.

He won a trial in good style at Ballarat recently and should run very well despite the awkward draw.

Next up is Vicbred Super Series winner BEACH DIAMOND in race six, heat two of Nutrien Breeders Crown (2240m) for three-year-old fillies at 8.33pm SA time.

She has drawn gate eight, one on the second row, and trails arch-rival Soho Americano which has come up with gate one. Cam Hart was happy to stay in the sulky.

ABR has two runners in race seven, the first heat of the Hyland Racing Colours Breeders Crown (2240m) for two-year-old fillies.

The exciting ONE MILLIE will haver her first run for Emma Stewart coming across Peter Bain’s Gawler stable and has gate two.

Cam Hart will drive the filly, an outstanding debut winner at Globe Derby Park before running second in the Golden Nursery final.

Another ex-Bain-trained pacer HILLTOP STAR comes from gate five with Ryan Sanderson to drive.

CAPTAIN PERFECT has drawn barrier four in race eight, heat two of the Woodlands Stud Breeders Crown (2240m) for three-year-old colts and geldings.

Mark Pitt will drive, and the colt should be able to qualify for the final.

DEGARMEA TEALE is our final runner in race nine, heat two of the Hyland Racing Colours Breeders Crown (2240m) for two-year-old fillies.

She has drawn gate two and will be driven by Blake Jones but is opposed to two of her star stablemates.

At Albion Park on Saturday, it is a case of extreme barrier draws for ABR’s two runners in the Group 3 $52,000 2025 Prydes Easifeed Forever Gold Mares (1660m), race three at 6.41pm SA time.

In-form SWEET MIA has come up with the excellent barrier of one for trainer Chantal Turpin and driver Pete McMullen.

Stablemate IMA QUEEN BEE has the 11 saddlecloth, gate four on the second row with Adam Richardson in the sulky.

SWEET MIA opened the $2.90 second favourite behind Lux Aeterna the $2.30 favourite. IMA QUEEN BEE is rated at $51 from her horror draw.

The Globe Derby Park meeting will be held on Sunday and ABR has two runners.

HILLTOP CRUSADER goes around for trainer Peter Bain and driver Wayne Hill in the Bargain Steel Centre Pace (1800m), race seven at 9.33pm SA time.

An excellent first-up winner on November 24, the colt has gate five.

To round off the meeting, MIKIS BEAUTY, an incredible winner at Globe Derby Park on Monday, lines up in race eight, the Ladbrokes Big Bets Pace (1800m) at 10.03pm SA time.

Wayne Hill drives again and it is exciting to see MIKIS BEAUTY run again.

The South Australian feature Southern Cross series begins at Globe Derby Park on Monday and ABR will be there.

HILLTOP BLOSSOM is out first runner in race two, the Allenby Lodge Southern Cross heat (1800m) for two-year-old fillies at 1.04pm SA time.

Trained by Emma Stewart for ABR matriarch Val Bain, the filly will be driven by Wayne Hill and has barrier one in a field of five.

Our other runner is ALOHA PRINCESS in race 10 at 5.50pm, heat two of the Ladbrokes Southern Cross Series (2230m) for three-year-old fillies.

A winner of her only two starts, the Peter Bain-trained filly comes from gate two in a field of nine.
