Aaron Bain Racing has a busy weekend ahead with runners at Morphettville Parks on Saturday, then Strathalbyn on Sunday.
Also, some important races at Melton on Saturday in the standardbreds with horses seeking to qualify for rich finals next week.
On Wednesday, ABR was delighted to see star mare KISS win her way through to the semi-finals of the APG – A Horse For Everyone Vicbred Super Series for four-year-old mares with a quality heat effort at Bendigo.
She did it tough and still won comfortably rating a smart 1:53.9 coming home a last half in 54.5 seconds.
On Thursday, ABR picked up an exciting two-year-old colt by Savabeel at the NZ Ready To Run Sale. He was a horse the ABR team really liked, and we are happy to have been able to purchase him.
Shares are available but we expect them to go quick. Looks at the website if you are interested or contact one of the team.
Going forward, ABR is looking forward to taking star DUAL PRESSURE to Morphettville Parks on Saturday to run in race four, the PFD Food Services Handicap (1550m) at 2.17pm SA time.
It is a heat of the Sportsbet Happy Trails Series with the final the following Saturday.
DUAL PRESSURE has drawn the extreme outside in a field of eight with Jason Holder to ride.
There looks to be excellent speed in the race so the wider gate should not be too much of issue.
ABR was proud of the way the five-year-old ran when fourth in the Gawler Cup at his most recent run and expects him to be competitive on Saturday.
Betting agencies have installed DUAL PRESSURE as the $3.30 favourite after $3.40 was bet.
Our other runner is TAINO ROCKET in race seven the Brenton Gottsy 60th Handicap (1250m) at 4.07pm SA time.
The four-year-old has drawn gate six in a field of 10 with apprentice Taylor Johnstone to ride and claim 1.5kg which puts him in very well at the weights.
TAINO ROCKET ran very well on his ABR debut when second before not having much luck second up and a handy fifth. He steps up in trip on Saturday which should suit and he does go very well around the Parks circuit.
There has been good support for TAINO ROCKET which has firmed from as much as $12, but generally $9, into $7.50 with the favourite Ginger Sinner at $4.20.
Sunday sees ABR head to Strathalbyn with two runners.
OH LOVEY NO returns to the track in race four the Bremerton Wines Class One Handicap (2050m) at 2.25pm SA time.
Apprentice Matthew Chadwick is in the saddle and can claim 2kg off her weight of 57kg.
The mare has drawn barrier 10 in an acceptance of 11.
OH LOVEY NO hasn’t raced since her maiden at Morphettville on September 3.
The mare had a 1200 metre trial at Balaklava on October 31 to ready her for Sunday.
The improving MRS PENNY CRACKER has drawn poorly in the outside gate of an acceptance of 10 in race five, the Gipsie Jack Class One Handicap (1350m) at 3pm SA time.
Apprentice Taylor Johnstone, who rode her to a maiden win at Mindarie Halidon stays aboard the five-year-old mare.
Another step forward in the APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series at Melton on Saturday night with five Emma Stewart-trained runners representing ABR and seeking to make next week’s rich finals.
Star three-year-old CAPTAIN PERFECT is ABR’s first runner in the second semi-final for three-year-old colts & geldings (2240m), race three at 7.05pm SA time.
Finally, he has a better gate starting from three with Mark Pitt in the sulky.
The Victoria Derby runner up was an excellent third from a poor draw in his heat last week.
Betting agencies have him a $2.60 favourite on Saturday.
Next up is SHORELINE DREAM in semi-final one for two-year-old colts & geldings (2240m), race five at 8.18pm SA time.
He has a tough job drawing the extreme outside of the front row in gate seven with Jackie Barker to drive and he is a $26 chance.
ABR has two runners in race seven, the first semi-final for two-year-old fillies (2240m) at 9.18pm SA time.
POPPY LANE drew gate two but the filly in one has already been scratched so she starts from the inside of the front row.
Jackie Barker has been booked to drive the filly which will be better for her debut fifth in a heat at Bendigo. She is a $13 chance.
HILLTOP BLOSSOM has barrier four, coming into three, with Mark Pitt to drive.
Formerly trained by Peter Bain, the filly had her first run for Emma Stewart in her Bendigo heat and ran well to finish third.
She is quoted at $21 in early markets.
ABR rounds off our night at Melton with BEACH DIAMOND, in race eight, semi-final two for three-year-old fillies (2240m) at 9.45pm SA time.
The Victoria Oaks runner up was an easy heat winner last week and comes from gate three on Saturday with Cameron Hart jumping into the cart.
She has been installed the $1.60 favourite in her semi-final.
The Ladbrokes Ladyship Stakes (1800m), race two at 6.14pm SA time, is one of the features at Globe Derby Park on Saturday and ABR has two runners.
OPEN THE GATES and HILLTOP STAR, both trained by Peter Bain, have drawn gates one and two, respectively.
After running second in her heat of the Golden Nursery, OPEN THE GATES ran seventh in the final but from gate one on Saturday looks well placed with Wayne Hill in the sulky.
HILLTOP STAR, a beautifully bred filly has had just one run when unplaced at Mildura back in June. She can improve here and will be driven by Bernadette Page.
LIZZIE SHELBY, a brilliant winner when resuming at Globe Derby Park last month, has drawn barrier gate 11 in race four the Bargain Steel Centre Pace (1800m) at 7.20pm SA time.
Wayne Hill will drive the mare which has won five of her nine starts for ABR.
At Albion Park, IMA QUEEN BEE starts in race three, the Racing And Sport.Com Band 5 Pace (1660m) at 7.13pm SA time.
She has drawn barrier eight, gate one on the second row, for trainer Chantal Turpin with Pete McMullen in the sulky.
In-form SWEET MIA lines up again in race five, the Garrards Horse & Hound Mares Open (1660m) at 8.25pm SA time.
A winner of three straight, SWEET MIA had her colours lowered last week but was far from disgraced finishing second.
This week she has a tough draw of six, with Tom Callaghan in the sulky.
On Sunday, ABR heads to Launceston in Tasmania with two of our stars from the Emma Stewart stable.
HUNGRY HIPPO returns to racing in race six the Nutrien AG Solutions Globe Derby Prelude (2200m) at 3.03pm SA time.
He has drawn the outside of the front row in gate seven with Alex Ashwood to drive.
HUNGRY HIPPO won his first three starts, all in Tasmania and one at Launceston, before not being comfortable around Globe Derby Park when second on October 4.
Despite the draw, expect him to run well.
His Tassie goal is the Group 3 $75,000 Globe Derby Final (2200m) at Launceston on Saturday, November 29.
ABR’s other runner is HEZA PUNK ROCKER in heat two of the Lees Orchard Tassie Golden Apple (2200m), a standing start event, at 3.39pm SA time.
He will come from gate five in a field of 11 with Alex Ashwood in the sulky.
HEZA PUNK ROCKER has run very well in three runs from a break with two placings before returning to the winner’s list at Melton.
Hopefully, he qualifies for the Group 3 Tassie Golden Apple Final (2200m), a standing start race, on Saturday, November 29.
