ABR Race Preview

While Flemington hosts the final day of Melbourne Cup week, the spotlight for Aaron Bain Racing will be at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney.

Star galloper SHADY THINKER gets the chance to advance his reputation contesting race four, the $160,000 Ranvet Handicap (1200m) at 1.40pm SA time.

In-form jockey Nash Rawiller picked up the ride after Adam Hyeronimus was suspended at Randwick on Tuesday.

There was an acceptance of nine but already there has been a scratching.

SHADY THINKER has drawn barrier four.

ABR hopes the punters and price assessors are right as the four-year-old opened at $3.60 in some areas and was backed into $3 favourite. Lately, he has eased to $3.30 but is still the fav, just ahead of the topweight Midnight Dynamite which has been heavily supported.

Trainers Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor were keen to see if SHADY THINKER can take another step up in class and picked the Rosehill Gardens event as the opportunity.

Locally, just the one runner at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.

HIGH GARDEN has accepted in race three, the Dominant Handicap (1400m) at 1.36pm SA time – four minutes before stablemate SHADY THINKER goes around in Sydney.

The mare has drawn gate seven in an acceptance of 11 with Jason Holder to ride.

HIGH GARDEN was a sound run over 1600 metres last week but on Saturday is back to 1400 metres, a distance at which she has won twice.

Price assessors have the mare at $6 in an open betting race with Cockatoo Rose the $4.50 favourite.

Harness Racing

All ABR eyes are on Melton on Friday with the heats of the APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series.

Victoria Derby runner-up CAPTAIN PERFECT is our first runner in heat three for three-year-old colts & geldings over 2400 metres at 7.30pm SA time.

Yet again, no luck with the draw coming from gate seven, the extreme outside of the front row. Mark Pitt has the drive and knows the colt well.

BEACH DIAMOND, the Victoria Oaks second placegetter, runs in race six, the third heat for three-year-old fillies over 2240m at 8.03pm SA time.

She has barrier eight, the inside of the second row with Ryan Sanderson to drive.

ABR is looking for both the Emma Stewart-trained runners to qualify for the semi-finals to be run at Melton on Saturday, November 15.

On Saturday, ABR trainer Peter Bain will be out to keep his amazing strike rate going when DREAMALITTLEDREAM contests race six at Globe Derby Park, the Ladbrokes Quick Multi Pace (1800m) at 10.12pm SA time.

The mare has drawn barrier six with Wayne Hill to drive.

Bain has had 22 winners this season from just 42 starters for a strike rate better than 50%.

DREAMALITTLEDREAM has to be a good chance and was an eye-catching second at her most recent run.

At Albion Park, SWEET MIA will attempt her fourth straight win in the Garrards Horse & Hound Mares Open Pace (1660m) coming from gate three at 7.06pm SA time.

Trainer Chantal Turpin has the mare flying with talented concession reinsman Tom Callaghan in the sulky.

IMA QUEEN BEE is in race four, the Become A Creek Member – Join New Band 5 Pace (2138m) at 7.41pm SA time.

Trained by Chantal Turpin, she will come from barrier four with Pete McMullen to drive.
