ABR Weekend Preview

Stable stars DUBAI FOCUS and SHADY THINKER were among a team of eight which trainers Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor took to the Murray Bridge trials on Thursday.

ABR was delighted by the racetrack returns of both gallopers as they prepare for new campaigns during the spring and into summer.

All triallists did what was required, and several are likely to hit the track in the next few weeks.

On Saturday, Aaron Bain Racing will have five runners at Morphettville Parks as the spring racing season starts to warm up.

Trainers Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor start in race one, the AIG Security Handicap (1250m) at 12.22pm SA time.

UNDER AND OVER backs up coming from gate two in a field of eight.

The mare was a close up fourth last Saturday at Morphettville and the mentors are delighted with the way she has trained on.

UNDER AND OVER has backed up successfully previously and ABR expects her to be super competitive in a good field.

Betting agencies have the mare at $4 in an open betting race where they favourite is the Victorian visitor Naval Academy at $3.50.

Imported galloper CONCORDE steps up in ground in race four, the Quayclean Handicap (1950m) at 2.12pm SA time.

After four runs for ABR, CONCORDE looks well placed coming from gate one in an acceptance of 11 with Jason Holder to ride.

The six-year-old has run over 1600 metres at his past two starts and has indicated the extra ground on Saturday should suit.

From the inside gate, Holder should be able to give him a perfect run, and we would hope he is in the placings.

CONCORDE is also a $4 chance in early markets with heavily backed Burning Bright ($2.60 into $2.45) the strong favourite.

STOKOMO gets his chance to break through again in race five, the Dominant Handicap (1250m) at 2.47pm.

Connor Murtagh has been engaged and STOKOMO has drawn gate nine in a field of 10.

The gelding has run well for seconds at his past two runs around Morphettville Parks, the most recent over Saturday’s trip.

STOKOMO has been easy in betting easing from $11 to $13 with another Victorian visitor Nepravda the public elect at $3.20.

LOUNGE BAR RUBI has his first run for ABR in race eight, the Sportsbet More Places Handicap (1400m) at 4.37pm SA time.

A gross horse, the six-year-old has had a solid preparation for a return to racing.

Jake Toeroek will ride the gelding coming from barrier eight in a field of 11.

LOUNGE BAR RUBI has had a trial and jump out to ready for his first run for ABR.

He has not raced since finishing unplaced in the Echuca Cup in Victoria in March.

ABR believes he will continue to improve through his preparation.

LOUNGE BAR RUBI has eased from $16 to $18 in early markets with the speedy Nasho, $3.70 into $3.10, the favourite.

Our final runner for the day is LITTLEBOURKESTREET in race nine, the Vale Max Basheer AM Handicap (1000m) at 5.12pm SA time.

Jason Holder rides coming from gate three in an acceptance of 16 with two emergencies.

The four-year-old mare has been a model of consistency and deserves a win.

She was far from disgraced when second at Balaklava at her most recent run.

Expect her to be finishing strongly.

LITTLEBOURKESTREET has had early support firming from $7.50 into $6.50 behind the $3.20 favourite Streetcar Fury in an opening betting race.

Harness Racing Update

DREAMALITTLEDREAM goes around at Globe Derby Park on Saturday in race two, the Ladbrokes Blackbook Pace (1800m).

She has drawn gate four with Wayne Hill to drive.

She has won two of her three starts for trainer Peter Bain and looks a good chance again with a bit of luck.

ABR has two runners at Melton in Victoria on Saturday.

NO NOTTHEBUTTONS has drawn barrier eight, gate one on the second row, in race two, the Hygain Victory Pace (2240m) at 6pm SA time.

Allan McDonough will have the drive.

NO NOTTHEBUTTONS won two races at Globe Derby Park before having no luck from a poor draw.

HEZA PUNK ROCKER makes a welcome return to racing in race six, the Hyland Racing Colours Pace (1720m) at 8.08pm SA time.

Mark Piutt has been booked to drive coming from the outside of the front row, gate seven.

HEZA PUNK ROCKER has not raced since finishing second at Melton in June.

He was a Super Series winner in September last year.

On Monday, former New Zealand pacer NAROBI steps out in race seven, the Brereton Jewellers Pace (1800m) at 3.45pm.

Now trained by Peter Bain, the mare will be driven by Wayne Hill coming from gate six.

She was a winner at Manawatu in April before being purchased in May.

Talented three-year-old REACH THE PEAK lines up in race 10, the Hilltop Fresh Flowers Pace (1800m) at 5.26pm.

The colt is now back in the draw, but it didn’t help on Monday as he again drew gate seven, the outside of the front row. Wayne Hill is in the sulky for trainer Peter Bain.

REACH THE PEAK was impressive winning at Port Pirie on Tuesday, sitting parked and drawing clear to score rating an excellent 1:55.6.
