Four acceptors for Aaron Bain Racing at Morphettville on Saturday, running on a heavy track following persistent rain from Thursday.

ABR’s first runner is CONCORDE in race four, the SA Retaining & Civil Handicap (1600m) at 2.02pm SA time.

The import has drawn gate nine in a field of 11 with apprentice Matthew Chadwick to ride and claim 3kg which brings him in with a weight 2kg under the race minimum.

CONCORDE was a little disappointing when fifth at his last outing, but trainers Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor are confident he will be much more competitive on Saturday.

Betting agencies have CONCORDE at $17 behind the $4.60 Watadeel. It seems a value price each-way if he runs up to his first two runs this preparation.

The ultra-consistent METRICAL lines up in race six, the UrbanVirons Group Handicap (1200m) at 3.12pm SA time.

He has drawn barrier 10 in a field of 13 with Jason Holder to ride.

METRICAL was scratched several weeks ago with a slight virus but is back bouncing around and ready to run up to his form.

The gelding has two wins and three seconds from five runs this preparation and he looks well placed again on Saturday.

METRICAL has firmed from $7.50 into $6 in early markets with CICALA listed as the $2.25 favourite.

ABR’s third runner is LITTLE ENGINE in race eight, the Aceit Transport Solutions Handicap (1200m) at 4.27pm SA time.

The mare has drawn gate one in an acceptance of 19 with three emergencies. Jason Holder has been booked to ride.

LITTLE ENGINE is having her first run for ABR and has had a nice trial at Murray Bridge early in the month to have her ready. She has not raced since March and had a good break at Angaston Park before going back into training.

Betting agencies give her little hope, and she is listed at $41 behind the promising Cash which is the $3.50 favourite.

Gallant grey SOLAR MIST is our fourth acceptor, but came up as fourth emergency in race nine, the Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1050m) at 5.02pm SA time.

The field is restricted to a maximum of 16 runners but by Friday morning there already had been four scratchings, so he is assured of a run.

SOLAR MIST has drawn barrier 11 and Ben Price has been engaged.

The heavier the better for ABR’s runner and the draw will ensure he gets clear galloping room which he loves.

His last-to-first win at Morphettville at his most recent run was outstanding and we would be hoping for a repeat.

SOLAR MIST has been specked from $18 into $16 in early betting with the Victorian Interest Point a well backed favourite shortening from $5.50 into $4.40.

Harness Racing

Another exciting day of harness racing on Saturday for ABR.

WINGS ON THE LINE, an excellent winner last Saturday, lines up in race five, the 1800-Got-Junk? Pace (1800m) at 8.29pm SA time.

The Emma Stewart-trained mare has drawn gate six with Wayne Hill to drive.

WINGS ON THE LINE was able to dash up the sprint lane to win last week but Hill is going to need to produce a ‘pearler’ from Saturday’s awkward gate.

REACH THE PEAK, out to stretch his winning run to four, contests race eight, the Ladbrokes Black Book Pace (1800m) at 10.15pm SA time.

The three-year-old again takes on the older horses but will carry the number 11 saddlecloth meaning he will come from slot four on the second row.

It could not get any tougher for the colt, which is now trained by Peter Bain and will be driven by Wayne Hill.

At Melton, CAPTAIN PERFECT steps out again in race 10, the Hertz Melton 3YO Pace (2240m) at 10.24pm SA time.

He has drawn gate five in a field of seven and will be driven by Mark Pitt.

CAPTAIN PERFECT resumed from a short break with an excellent second at Melton on August 16 over 1720m, beaten by stablemate Storms Collide which is engaged again on Saturday.

With that run under his belt, and the step up in distance, ABR hopes the CAPTAIN can turn the tables.

Betting agencies can’t split the pair and in early markets they were equal favourites at $1.80.
