Winning is contagious and it is a habit Aaron Bain Racing doesn’t want to break anytime soon.
Talented three-year-old DUBAI FOCUS on Saturday made it seven consecutive metro Adelaide race meetings where co-trainers Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor had had at least one win.
WA-owned mare PACIFIC JEWEL provided the cherry on top with her victory in the final event.
So after three winners on Magic Millions Saturday at Thomas Farms Murray Bridge on the previous Saturday, to follow with a double at Morphettville Parks seven days later was incredible.
Thoe two winners made it six winners for the week in the city, plus one, BEACH PAD, at Strathalbyn on Wednesday, gave ABR seven for the week.
ABR wants this sensational run to continue at Morphettville Parks this Saturday.
Firstly, the Bain Train heads to Oakbank on Wednesday, where we have just the one runner, THERE GOES MY HERO.
The four-year-old has drawn barrier one in a field of 14 in the Ray White Real Estate Benchmark 56 Handicap (1900m), race four at 2.50pm SA time.
Apprentice Taylor Johnstone will ride and claim 1.5kg.
THERE GOES MY HERO finished midfield at Balaklava over 1400 metres when resuming on February 23.
He has an excellent second up record with a win and two seconds from three runs.
While having his first run at the trip, ABR believes this type of ground is what he has been looking for and will be well suited.
ABR has been active at the 2025 Adelaide Magic Millions yearling sale which is being conducted on Monday and Tuesday.
We had picked up four yearlings in early sales so keep an eye on our social media for chances to jump on the Bain Train and #experiencetheTHRILL.
DUBAI FOCUS stepped up again as our star of the weekend.
An attempt was made to take him out of his comfort zone but the front-running three-year-old still proved way too good.
DUBAI FOCUS won the battle of tactics and also the race at Morphettville Parks.
Stretching his winning run to three, the Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor trained gelding raced away to win the Croser Handicap (1400m).
Rival Swiftie Harriet jumped quickly and held the inside trying to get the free-wheeling Dubai Focus out of his comfort zone early, but jockey Jason Holder pressed on to eventually find the front.
The question of whether that early pressure had a negative effect was answered in the home straight when Dubai Focus ($2.40 fav) dashed away to win by 1-2/4 lengths from Swiftie Harriet ($3.80) with Gruelling ($41), two lengths away third.
Trainer Ned Taylor was proud of Dubai Focus’ win.
“He is a very progressive horse,” Taylor said.
“We have worked out he just likes to roll along, and Jason (Holder) has been riding him a treat.
“We think he has a good future ahead.
“He didn’t get it easy early, they made him do it, but Jason didn’t panic and cruised across.
“Jason let him find the front under his own steam, gave them something to chase from the corner and he was too good.
“The one concern today was how far he is going to get.
“We think he will get a trip but sticking to the 1400, if there was one a bit sharper than him it was going to be a danger, but he was good enough.”
Taylor said there were options going forward for Dubai Focus.
“There is a 1600 metre race at Morphettville in two weeks leading into the Port Guineas, or in three weeks is the Nitschke over 1400 metres on the Parks circuit.
“Credit to all the staff at home, both at Angaston and Gawler, they are doing a wonderful job, and the results are on the board.”
Winning jockey Jason Holder has been impressed by the progress of Dubai Focus.
“Today was his best win,” Holder said.
“We had to work a little bit early, and he just likes to be running freely.
“What I loved about him was that he changed stride at the 400 (metres) and it felt like he got into another gear. He gave me a lovely ride.
“This horse just keeps stepping up.
“I like the way he won today, doing a bit of work early and being strong late.
