Aaron Bain Racing heads to Morphettville Parks on Saturday looking to extend our fantastic record of having had at least one winner at the past six Adelaide metropolitan meetings.
The sequence of wins, including last Saturday’s treble at Thomas Farms Murray Bridge, has lifted co-trainers Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor to sixth position on the SA Metro Trainers Premiership with 11 wins.
On Saturday, it will be up to one of BULLET WING, DUBAI FOCUS or PACIFIC JEWEL to return to the winner’s circle after their race.
BULLET WING will be ABR’s first runner stepping out in race two, the PFD Food Services Handicap (1550m) at 1.02pm SA time.
Jasson Holder takes the ride from barrier five in a field of eight.
The six-year-old ran a close second over this track and trip two starts back before a creditable fourth at his most recent outing, also here and over 1550m on March 1.
The TAB opened BULLET WING at $6.50 with Grid Girl the early favourite at $2.
Impressive DUBAI FOCUS runs in race seven, the Croser Handicap (1400m) at 3.57pm SA time.
The three-year-old was super in winning first up around this track and trip on March 1.
Jason Holder remains in the saddle, and the gelding has drawn four in a field of 10.
A bold on-pace runner, DUBAI FOCUS tackles a tougher field but should give his rivals something to chase.
The TAB believes DUBAI FOCUS is ABR’s best chance of a winner opening him the $2.40 favourite.
ABR’s final runner is PACIFIC JEWEL in race nine, the SkyCity Handicap (1550m) at 5.19pm SA time.
The trainers opted to scratch from a poor draw at Strathalbyn on Wednesday and were rewarded with barrier one on Saturday in a field of 14 with two emergencies.
Apprentice Taylor Johnstone retains the ride and can claim 2kg.
PACIFIC JEWEL was an impressive maiden winner at Naracoorte at her most recent run and can measure up in the city.
The mare has opened at $19 in a tougher affair.
On Friday, ABR headed to Murray Bridge with a team of eight for the trials.
We are taking SHOGUN CHIKARA, METRO LEGEND, HOLLYWOOD HIGH, MIDNIGHT HARRY, WARM BREEZE, MAKIN, GOODNITE MOON and PIANTA.
With so many horses ready to go racing, ABR wants to keep finding the winner’s stall to help out owners #experiencetheTHRILL.
Next week is the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale and our team expects to be active so keep checking social media to see what we have purchased and whether you would like to become involved.
Aaron Bain Racing unveiled a talented staying prospect when Beach Pad returned to the winning list at Strathalbyn on Wednesday, March 12.
The victory gave ABR five winners in five days.
After settling third last in the field of 12, Beach Pad, trained by Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor, rounded up his rivals comfortably and raced away to win The Terminus Hotel Strathalbyn Handicap (2050m).
Jockey Jason Holder allowed the four-year-old to balance up early before asking him to improve from the 800-metre mark.
Owned in Western Australia by Geoff Evans, the gelding rounded up his rivals by the home turn then dashed away.
Well backed from $2.50 into $2.20, Beach Pad won by three lengths from Discreetly Blue ($2 fav) with Fiano Now ($12), a distant 6-1/4 lengths away third.
Trainer Ned Taylor said the stable was confident Beach Pad could find his way into the city.
“Stubby (Holder) didn’t panic,” Taylor said.
“He got him into a comfortable rhythm, and he certainly put them away well.
“The danger, Discreetly Blue (second) has run well as well but they have gapped the rest.
“Hopefully, he is a nice horse than can go on and win a couple more.
“He certainly looks like a Saturday style of horse.
“Beach Pad is a horse we knew would be better on a softer track and the track today had a little bit of give in it which helped him.
“Going into winter at the back of the carnival there will be races aplenty for him.”
Beach Pad came to ABR towards the end of last year and had run midfield in the WA Derby (2400m) in April last year.
Winning jockey Jason Holder said Beach Pad had been impressive.
“Before the race we thought we might have been in front of a few more,” Holder said.
“But we also didn’t want to get him out of his comfort zone.
“It worked out really well.
“I rode Discreetly Blue last start and didn’t realise it was in today, but the ABR team were confident we could still win, and they were right.
“Without doubt Beach Pad has gone a city win in him on that performance.
“I really liked he stays and going forward he will be suited to staying races.”
