With the wonderful ABR feature race success in harness racing will it be another standardbred to follow in the hooves of the inaugural ABR HOTY, million-dollar pacer Spirit of St Louis, now campaigning in the United States?
Or has one of our thoroughbreds done enough to claim the honour?
In reality, 2024 was another year of growth for Aaron Bain Racing and a celebration of the year will take place on Friday, February 7 at the Wolf Blass ‘The Man’ Event Centre at Morphettville racecourse.
In you are unable to attend on Friday, the winners will be listed in next week’s Weekend Review.
Thoroughbred racing heads to Murray Bridge on Wednesday with two ABR acceptors but only one will run.
Pocket rocket DON’TDOUBTLAYLA steps out in race four the Thomas Farms Class Two Handicap (1200m) at 3.25pm SA time.
The four-year-old mare, with Jason Holder to ride, has drawn barrier one in an acceptance of 13 but there already has been one scratching.
She will carry 60kg in a good field.
DON’TDOUBTLAYLA was super impressive on debut for ABR coming from last over 1050m metres at Oakbank on January 8 and has been kept fresh for Wednesday’s assignment.
BULLET WING, ABR’s other acceptor, has drawn poorly in gate 16 in a field of 18 with four emergencies in race seven, the Carlton Draught Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 58 Handicap (1400m) at 5.10pm SA time.
Trainers Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor felt it was too much of an ask to go from such a wide draw and he was scratched.
Instead, BULLET WING will be nominated for a race at Morphettville on Saturday, February 15.
