The Inglis Classic sale in Sydney presented us the opportunity to bring home a powerful grandson of the late champion sire Snitzel.  While there won’t be any more Snitzel’s, his Group 1 winning son, In The Congo, offers the opportunity to continue the legacy.  He has stamped this colt with the classic features of the line, being compact, strong and built for speed and precocity.

In The Congo is put simply, by a champion, out of a champion. Snitzel, an elite racehorse and champion sprinting sire of early 2-year-olds, out of Via Africa, the champion South African sprinter and three-time Group 1 winner.  He is notably a 3/4 brother to the currently undefeated Autumn Glow, winner of over $6.8million in prize money and potentially the next superstar in Australian racing.

In The Congo won the stallion making Golden Rose with blistering sustained speed, defeating other top line colts who would go onto stud such as Anamoe, Artorius and Captivant.  His yearlings were highly sought after and supported in each of the early season sales and are presenting in the nation’s best stables.

This colt is the 2nd foal of the winning mare Stolen Glance.  A winner herself at two, she is a half-sister to stakes performers Tempt Me Not and Castanya. Bolstering the broodmare line is the 3rd dam Tempest Morn, the multiple Group 1 winner of over $750,000 including wins in the Ansett Stakes and SAJC Australasian Oaks.  Daughters of Tempest Morn have proven themselves as broodmares, producing the likes of Good Standing ($1.58 million prize money) and Smart Meteor ($488,000).
